Programme outline
The MAC Wednesday Cross Country (XC) Ski program runs for six weeks, starting on the 24th of July and ending on the 28th of August with a backup week being the 4th September.
Students will leave school at 1:15 pm and arrive at Snow Farm by 2:00 pm. They’ll be fitted with rental equipment and on the snow as soon as possible. Lessons and activities will finish by 4:00 pm. Students will depart Snow Farm for MAC at 4:15 pm and arrive at school by 5:00 pm.
The students will learn both types of skiing - classic and skating. They will be aiming to achieve a Blue award in XC skiing with hopefully some attaining the Bronze award in XC skiing.
Parent helpers
The programme relies heavily on parent helpers who can help transport students to and from the Snow Farm over the six week period. There will be an additional transport cost of $60 which will be used to reimburse parent drivers.
Any parent providing transport is encouraged to take up Snow Farms offer of free rentals (including snowshoes), and trail passes for the afternoon. A free lesson is also offered for those who want to give it a go
